What is a Locost?

A Locost is a Lotus 7 inspired car that was originally created by Ron Champion and well publicised in his book: Build Your Own Sports Car For As Little As £250. The book gives comprehensive instructions detailing how build your own car from scratch, including the steel space frame chassis and suspension system.

The first was built using a MK II Ford Escort as a donor, but today many different cars are being used with seemingly infinite combinations of components.

What's the purpose of this site?

This site has been created for two reasons. Firstly, I want to keep a record of what I'm doing in order to one day end up with a with a budget sports car. Secondly, I'd like to be able to share my experiences and what ever knowledge I pick up on the way with others who have an interest in this type of car.
